About the Event
Mindfulness – How can it help right now? Our minds or more specifically our thoughts are where our suffering begins. During this period of great uncertainty our minds can become really over-active trying to avoid, or problem-solve our way out of the uncomfortable feelings of fear that arise. This forum will include a brief introduction to mindfulness and then explore how it can help right now and how you have the power to choose what you focus your attention on. We will do some short practices to use in times of stress and over-whelm. Mindfulness is a great practice for calming the mind and nervous system. It is a doorway into allowing the body to rest and heal. Clare McLusky Clare began practicing meditation as part of a healing journey following cancer treatment. She is still enjoying the journey and trained to teach mindfulness based cognitive therapy (MBCT) with Professor Mark Williams 10 years ago. Before this she was an occupational therapist working in mental health. She writes a blog for Yes to Life on living in lockdown.
